It is always interesting to see Israeli defense technology quietly move from operational need to global adoption.
SMARTSHOOTER, founded in 2011 and employing roughly 80 people, just secured a contract with Australia to evaluate its SMASH system for dismounted counter-drone missions. A relatively small company, making a very real impact.
๐Ÿ’กSo what makes SMASH different?

Their AI-enabled fire control systems mount directly on standard rifles and use computer vision to detect, track, and lock onto targets. The system synchronizes the shot release at the exact moment a hit is calculated. In simple terms, it dramatically increases hit probability against moving targets, including drones and small aerial threats, without changing how soldiers maneuver or fight.

SMARTSHOOTER operates from Israel, with a growing footprint in the US, Europe, and Australia. Its systems are combat-proven with the IDF and already in use or evaluation by the US Army and other Western militaries.
This is a great example of Israeli innovation at the tactical edge. Small teams, real operational experience, and technology that solves an immediate battlefield problem. From infantry lethality to counter-UAS at squad level, this is exactly where modern defense innovation is heading.
